The place from which fine art, ephemera, and community practice emerges, and the destination of all these, is shared by the interface vehicle that is my personal somatic practice of Tattoo.

For the past seven years, I’ve approached tattooing not purely as aesthetic adornment, but as a vehicle for embodied principles, symbolism coupled with direct community engagement - it’s a way to give and receive what is captured in my fine art work and it’s intentions, via the form and moment of session, direct from my hand and heart to the human asking for the work - tattoo as an artist is an act of committing work as a visual timestamp while the intention & client’s desire is also inscribed and transmitted to their life, working directly with their body and personhood. It is a manifestation of the artist & the work not in isolation or solitude, but in communal reception and activated by the everyday life that will live as one with the art. The work becomes invaluable and inimitable because it exists rhizomatically with the client, long after we have parted.

Clients arrive carrying potentials asking for release, renewal, or rerouting and the tattoo session becomes an incubator for the energetic process. They often leave with more clarity on what is discussed or quietly held, and most commonly, they leave freer to hold themselves.

Tattoo for me is relational, attentive, and grounded in trust. I hold this work with seriousness, care, and reverence for its unmatched capacity to transmute and transform.

My practice in this modality thrives at the intersection of visual energetic container, subtle intention laying, and somatic witness, holding, and stewardship. I draw from my lifelong practice of intuitive generativity, where creation and the choice to produce image into form is not only expressive but devotional to the larger metaphysics that suspend and ground the effort, sustaining purpose beyond understanding.

I am currently booking a small number of sessions per season. If you feel called to work together, I invite you to reach out. You can receive daily updates, see my current tattoo work and book with me directly on my social media here.

Tattoo as Energetic Mark-Making

A written reflection on matter, memory, and intentional image by Sab.

In the safety of a tattoo session an energetic exchange unfolds whether spoken on or not. Tattoo allows an act of human presence steeped in mutuality, such presence is a form of love. Through direct artist to client conduit and channel, the art often inaccessible in its radiance within the limits of industry, optics, and power dynamics, collapses its symbolism to become a living mark, dynamically activated through the body and emotional, energetic, and intellectual processing of the client and the active laying down of line, colour, gesture and intention from me.
Each piece is a moment of transmission: my generative prayers and offerings as an artist and the validation of the witness are visible in the tattoo yes, but mutually felt too - an absolute transgression, biofeedback, communion, and third space of strength opens like a portal when a session occurs.

I am grateful that this practice has reached beyond aesthetics as was intended always - as a fine artist debuting professionally in 2014, my goal within the industry was to create and hold a space for heart-based communion and activation through witnessing and living with, moving among, and choosing to receive my art work. Tattoo, when it came into my life in 2017, proved quickly to be a deeply way for me to achieve those same goals and intentions, but so directly, with more robust call and response, and reciprocal exchange. The drawing is never separate from the person receiving it, and once the session is over, the artwork gets to be animated and live on through the life of the person, until they are gone. To me, it is a precious way to allow the alchemy of art as sacred transmission and metaphysical capture, to breathe.

The body is new; the soul is old. Tattooing can bridge the split of these states and have the session serve as conversation; with myself as the steward, and the client as the activator. I have witnessed again and again how people arrive in one form and leave clothed with more, the tattoo being a mark of proof —This is not a transformation I impose, but a shift I witness and respond to with the consent and request of the client. What I hold space for are my symbolic systems via art and the energetic nuances, my knowledge of embodiment, meditation and practice to steward the client in alignment with their desired and needed inner paths and portals.

My background in fine art and my own life of intimate energetic structure inform the way I approach tattooing: every line carries metaphor, every gesture carries intention. Unlike my work on paper, which live in stillness until exhibited, tattoos move with a person through time. They are worn into life, integrated into memory, and made sacred by embodiment.

Tattooing is an ancient, indigenous practice of memory, power, and continuity, which found me and catalyzed my life into one of more energetic integrity and community. I don’t take it lightly. I draw from a lifetime of intuitive language bearing, that has defined my self-determination and sense of power since childhood—and I offer it with the intention of planting those same active seeds to blossom with each client as their own fruit.

Each tattoo is a one-of-one collaboration, created in real time. I do not repeat designs. I draw directly from the moment we are in. The resulting piece becomes more than image—it becomes a signal, a grounding, a threshold made visible.

This limb of my practice may not be for everyone, but if you feel called to the alchemy of healing the split between body and spirit, and my work resonates as that bridge, you are welcome to join it.
